There comes a time in every meme when some small faction of users cry “enough!” and proceed to make an anti-”whatever the meme is” product. If the web allows for fantastic expressions of vernacular creativity, the tsunami of voices can overwhelm and exhaust users, necessitating stop measures from within — a form of self-policing, much more muted and less effective than those of the traditional bullies.
Nothing stops a meme, except oversaturation itself.
